A Busy Week

Posted on March 2, 2008

Wow everything is happening all at once!  I have a ton of work due this week and a bunch more to go win and finalize the contracts.  Getting busy is great!  I have managed to stay occupied with my own sites over the last few months, but not having time for silly sites, like this one, can be viewed as a good thing.  Hell, I’m the only one reading this anyways.  Talk to yourself more, crazyman.

The Power of Music

Posted on February 23, 2008

iPod ShuffleListening to music provokes thought. It can bring back a memory, it can stir an emotion, or it can inspire an idea.

I love how I can listen to certain songs, and it takes me right back to a time when that song was in my life. I was listening to Nothing But You by Paul Van Dyk earlier and it reminded me of vacationing with my family in Nags Head, NC three years ago. Another song Harmonic by Unwritten Law reminds me of snowboarding like ten years ago with my friends Mike, Damon, and Tommy.

Online Streaming Television Programs - Hulu.com

Hulu - Online TV

Hulu is a free, ad supported, streaming video site that is currently in beta testing in the US. The company is based out of Los Angles and has partnered with some major studios (Sony, MGM, Fox, NBC, Universal, and more…) to bring high quality television programs online in one centralized place. Hulu Player Page

The ads are 15 to 30 second spots and they one show one ad per ‘commercial break’. The interface shifts seamlessly between video and ads, requiring no user interaction. Sites like ABC.com require you to ‘click to continue’ back to your program, which I find to be a nuisance.

There are a lot of great shows on Hulu. Arrested Development, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Office, and the list goes on. There are a ton of current shows and classic shows and the list keeps growing everyday. I do wish they would concentrate more on Full Episodes rather than Clips. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of full episodes, I just don’t get the clips.

The player is easy to use, and the video looks good, even when it’s in full screen mode.

From Hulu’s fact sheet distributed with their press kit:

Hulu gives users the flexibility to enjoy content across the Web via its distribution partners: AOL, Comcast, MSN, MySpace and Yahoo!. These partners will feature videos in a customized video player for a seamless viewing experience
on their websites. Additionally, users can embed videos on their own websites to further extend distribution online.

In other words they are partnered with some major players on the web. They have also secured a private investment of $100 million. This all ads up to a solid platform to deliver television and movies over the internet with a familiar and non-annoying advertising platform.

Hulu is currently in beta testing, so you will have to sign up and wait a few weeks for your invite. If you don’t want to wait, leave me a comment here and I will send you an invite via email.

Hope you enjoy.

I’m an Animal. I like Animals.

Posted on February 23, 2008

That’s me and my buddy Paulie. We are hanging out. Paulie is a Goffin Cockatoo. I like a lot of different animals but Paulie is my favorite at the moment.

I feel an instinctual connection with a lot of animals. I try and understand them. I like to think they can understand me. Not what I am saying to them, but just understand me and my nature as I understand theirs.

I’m at least 75% Irish

Posted on February 23, 2008

We can talk percentages of Irish vs. Dutch vs. German later, the important thing is, I like Irish Car Bombs. As evidence of that fact, here I am with my brother, dad, and our good friend Ray. If you can’t guess, we’ve just put back a round.

Cheers!
